Do you have a passion for working with children and helping them succeed?

First Children School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Special Education Teacher to join our team full-time, working with children and young adults with special needs ages 3-21. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide individualized instruction, classroom support, and encouragement to help students build confidence, independence, and lifelong skills.

No two days are the same, and every day offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a student’s life!

What You'll Do

You’ll work closely with classroom staff, therapists, families, and administrators to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse educational and developmental needs. Responsibilities may include developing lesson plans aligned with student IEPs, implementing individualized instruction and behavioral strategies, training classroom assistants to provide one-to-one support, attending annual reviews and team meetings, and utilizing appropriate curricula and teaching materials.

In this role, you will also help students ages 3-21 develop essential life and vocational skills that support greater independence and successful transitions into adulthood. As part of our commitment to community outreach, you may collaborate with local organizations and resources to help students achieve their vocational and transitional goals.

We’re seeking individuals who are:

  • Patient, caring, and committed to helping students thrive
  • Collaborative team players with strong communication skills

  • Flexible, dependable, and passionate about special education

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education is required, along with either a NJ Teacher of the Handicapped Certification or Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification.
