Position: Special Education Paraprofessional - Multi-Categorial Location: Journey- Centennial High School Start Date: November 24, 2025 Hours: 6.5 hours/day - 7:40 am to 2:40 pm
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for providing on-site skill development, supervision, and support for transition students 18-22 participating in the school and/or work transition program. The paraprofessional serves as a liaison between instructors and any worksite personnel where they are job coaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist Journey Instructors with the operation and function of the classroom, and work with individual students or small groups as directed by and under the supervision of the instructors. 2. Assist with the implementation and follow-through of the student’s IEP plan in all settings. 3. Communicate any changes in tasks or concerns from a workplace supervisor to the work coordinator and instructors. 4. Perform all necessary personal cares needed- training will be provided. This includes changing, feeding, and transferring students to standers or wheelchairs. 5. Perform other reasonably related job duties as requested. 6. Provide effective support to promote the highest level of independence in the classroom and any worksite. 7. Data collection/tracking on individual student goals and progress. 8. Support the implementation and management of student communication devices.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma required. Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Must be highly qualfied: 1. Have at least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits if earned in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education; or 2. Hold an associate’s degree or higher; or 3. Have a passing score on an approved, formal assessment (ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment)
WAGES: Ranging from $20.40 - $22.19 per hour, dependent on prior experience
