Attendance Coordinator
JOB GOAL
This position was established for the purpose/s of overseeing and enforcing the Wilson County Schools attendance policy under the direction of the Attendance Supervisor and implementing attendance-related initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Holds a valid Tennessee teacher's license with an administrative endorsement preferred. Has a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with Tennessee State attendance statutes and regulations; Experience with Skyward and other education software platforms; Administrative/supervisory experience preferred; and Meets health and physical requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develops and recommends attendance/truancy policies, procedures, standards, and directives and communicates them orally and in written form.
- Compiles and evaluates data, prepares analysis, reports, and recommendations regarding school attendance and truancy.
- Maintains a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
- Works closely with teachers, school nurses, guidance counselors, and principals regarding students who are absent or tardy too frequently and who have not responded to the corrective efforts made by the building principal.
- Ensures that Tennessee State attendance laws are strictly adhered to and enforced, and files truancy charges or license revocations as directed by the Attendance Supervisor.
- Confer with students and their parents regarding problems or concerns related to student attendance, welfare, and makes home visits as necessary.
- Attends truancy and juvenile court.
- Monitors attendance tier meetings at the schools.
- Acts as a liaison between the school and community agencies, such as public and private welfare, psychiatric, and law enforcement agencies. Coordinates the involvement of outside agencies that are related to student attendance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: pushing and/or pulling, stooping and/or kneeling, reaching and/or handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.
