Autistic Support Special Education Teacher

Gillingham Charter School is looking to hire a Certified Special Education Teacher.

Gillingham Charter School is a Title I public school in Pottsville, PA, servicing students in many districts in the coal region, inside and outside Schuylkill County.  Our little school offers Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade students a unique Relational Education based on the philosophy of Charlotte Mason. At Gillingham, students learn to think, and they discuss ideas in Great Books (full of story, rich vocabulary and a plethora of viewpoints), so that they truly understand their history, know their country's constitution, and respectfully and thoughtfully engage in meaningful discussion about all sides of economic, religious, political, historical, and philosophical issues. They grow the ability to write and to talk and to debate and to critically analyze and support ideas. Thus, they walk away knowing about and respecting others, their country, other countries and themselves. 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• Valid PA educator certificate in special education issued by PDE
• Child Abuse, State Police, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances (Current within the last year)
• Excellent classroom management skills
• A willingness and enthusiasm to learn new methodologies
• A love of the outdoors
• Experience coordinating academically-oriented clubs and extracurricular activities
• Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in a dynamic team environment
