Reports to: This position reports to the Windham Regional Career Center Director

Position Summary:
The CTE Automotive Paraeducator supports the delivery of automotive instruction and hands-on learning experiences under the supervision of a licensed Automotive Technology Instructor. This role involves assisting students in developing technical skills, maintaining a safe and organized shop environment, supporting individualized student learning needs, and reinforcing academic and employability standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the delivery of instruction and demonstration of automotive skills such as diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of vehicles.


Support student learning during hands-on shop activities, including tool usage, safety procedures, and proper repair techniques.


Monitor and reinforce safety protocols and shop cleanliness.


Assist students with varying levels of academic and technical ability, including students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plans.


Help organize instructional materials, parts, and tools.


Maintain inventory of supplies and tools, and assist with ordering and tracking equipment.


Provide one-on-one or small group support as directed by the instructor.


Support the development of students' employability skills, such as professionalism, teamwork, and communication.


Attend trainings and professional development relevant to technical education and student support.


Perform other related duties as assigned by the instructor or CTE director.



Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.


Automotive repair knowledge and experience.


Strong communication skills and a student-centered approach.


Ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students in a fast-paced technical environment.


Commitment to safety, equity, and inclusion.



Preferred Qualifications:
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.


Experience working with high school students or in an educational setting.


Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.


Familiarity with Career and Technical Education programs and goals.



Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a classroom and active automotive shop environment.


Must be able to lift equipment or tools weighing up to 50 pounds.


Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and working around machinery, noise, and automotive fluids (with appropriate PPE).
