Position Objective

To empower every Emergent Bilingual teacher with the tools, knowledge and skills to facilitate equitable access and cultivate successful opportunities for all students.

 

Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Bilingual Certification

Special Knowledge, Skills and Requirements

Fluent in the Spanish language

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Experience

Three or more years of exemplary teaching experience.

Experience in developing curriculum documents and/or district assessments.

 

Responsibilities

 

Instructional Strategies

  1. Develop and implement curriculum documents in Spanish that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program that include accommodations to meet individual student learning goals.
  2. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology to enhance instruction at the level of mastery of state standards.
  3. Work collaboratively with the curriculum and instruction department, including the Special Education team, Response to Intervention team, and the Gifted and Talented team.
  4. Support teachers' knowledge of the standards and use of the tools and skills for teaching to mastery.

 

Student Growth and Development

  1. Analyze student achievement data and assist in all adjustments to curriculum and instruction to address needs.
  2. Attend Professional Learning Communities as requested by campus administrator.
  3. Create district assessments aligned to State standards for our Emergent Bilingual students.
  4. Be a positive role model for students, and support the mission of the school district.

 

Leadership Skills

  1. Lead collaboration with teachers to revise and create district curriculum documents.
  2. Select and/or vet resources that align to State standards.
  3. Lead work in selection of State adopted materials.
  4. Vet exemplar lessons for alignment to State standards and district instructional strategies.

 

Communication

  1. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with colleagues, teachers, campus administrators, students, parents and community members.
  2. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

 

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in professional learning opportunities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for curriculum and instruction of Emergent Bilingual students.
  3. Attend and participate in meetings and serve committees.
  4. Provide professional development to staff members including, but not limited to instructional strategies, content overview and the application of technology applications.

  1. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  2. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
