A LTS Special Education teacher is needed for Highlands Elementary School for the first two to four weeks of the school year. A Master’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred. Experience working with students within the inclusion, small groups, and individual setting, as well as experience evaluating student skills, writing reports to interpret/summarize findings, and experience writing IEPs is preferred.
The role includes:
- Providing direct and specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP)
- Assessing and monitoring student progress
- Employing various instructional techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
- Developing and implementing IEP plans for students
- Coordinating the delivery of special education services for students on caseload
- Serving as Special Education liaison for the parent
- Ensuring compliance with IEP timelines, maintaining accurate and complete student records, and preparing progress reports on children and activities
- Providing instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks
- Collaborating with the general education teachers to modify and accommodate curriculum, as needed, in accordance with the student’s IEP
- Working with and collaborating with paraprofessionals
- Other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by the district or school
