Certified Special Education Teacher (SETSS) with ABA Experience | Individual Groups | Elementary Age

Overview/Impact

Are you a dedicated Special Education Teacher eager to create a meaningful impact on students' academic growth in Manhattan? Knowledge Road is hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to join our team who has experience engaging with children with Autism and offer vital support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a significant shortage across the city of qualified special education professionals, your expertise is in high demand to ensure students receive the individualized instruction they deserve. This is an opportunity to engage directly with students who require specialized academic support, helping them in reaching their educational objectives through strategic intervention and evidence-based instruction.

As a SETSS provider with Knowledge Road, you will deliver individualized and small-group instruction in school settings, collaborating closely with families and school teams to support student advancement and academic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Offer high-quality, individualized small-group instruction to students with disabilities, according to their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP).

  • Ensure completion of each student's weekly IESP requirements and maintain an intervention schedule aligned to the school timetable.

  • Prepare and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain bi-weekly family communication with clear updates on progress and next steps.

  • Document service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with accurate, timely documentation.

  • Design and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that address the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.

  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other school staff to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment for your students.

  • Track and evaluate student progress, providing ongoing updates to families and school-based teams.

  • Engage in IESP meetings as needed, contributing valuable insights and recommendations to promote student success.

Qualifications:

  • NYS Students with Disabilities (B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist.

  • At least 2 years of teaching experience.

  • Must not have been employed by NYC DOE within the last 12 months.

  • Experience teaching Math and ELA.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain prior to start.

  • Experience supporting Elementary School Aged Students with Autism.

Schedule & Location

This is a full-time, school-day role at the child's school with a schedule that corresponds with the NYC DOE calendar. You'll deliver services on-site at one or more schools in Manhattan, with placements decided by student requirements. Weekly hours depend on IESP mandates; your caseload may differ by placement. Generally ~20-30 hours/week depending on assignments.

Compensation

$60−$100 per hour (1099). Pay rate varies by group size and placement. One-on-one IESP sessions generally start at $60 per hour. For this particular case we seek someone ready to provide one-to-one support with a student who has numerous mandated hours.

At Knowledge Road, you will benefit from:

• 1099 contractor position with fast, reliable payments

• Streamlined administrative and documentation processes

• Supportive team with DOE compliance and scheduling assistance

• Collaborative community of NYC school-based professionals
