Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate special education teacher to join our team at JPS Hunt Elementary. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with students with cognitive impairments to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of students while implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's unique needs.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with cognitive impairments, ensuring that educational goals are met.
- Provide direct instruction to students in various subjects, adapting teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Monitor and assess students' progress regularly, using data to inform instruction and adjust IEPs as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create a cohesive learning environment that meets the needs of all students.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students' progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
- Create a positive classroom environment that promotes respect, engagement, and a love of learning among students.
- Utilize technology and educational resources to enhance instruction and support student learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding special education services and documentation.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education, with a focus on cognitive impairments.
- Experience working with students with cognitive impairments in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, parents, and support staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to the needs of students in real-time.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
