Job Description

The College of Technology is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advanced Opportunities Director to support the transition of high school students into postsecondary CTE programs. This position plays a vital role in college and career advising, focusing on increasing postsecondary enrollment and credential attainment.

The director will spend the majority of their time working directly with high school students, families, and CTE instructors across multiple schools to promote advanced opportunities, microcredentials, and postsecondary pathways aligned with Idaho's high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand occupations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group advising to high school students to support post-secondary and career planning
  • Assist students with applications for college admission, FAFSA, scholarships, and dual credit opportunities
  • Promote and facilitate student participation in advanced opportunities, including SkillStack®, Workplace Readiness Diploma, and industry-recognized credentials
  • Engage parents and guardians in the planning process through events such as college nights and information sessions
  • Coordinate and support CTE-related events such as Tech Expos, program tours, and career fairs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution 
  • At least two (2) years of experience engaging with high school or college students in educational, advisory, support, outreach, or mentorship  roles, including but not limited to college admissions, academic advising, student recruitment, counseling, or other educational focused programs or services
  • Strong multitasking and task prioritization/organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with students, families, and school personnel
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple school sites
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office, SkillStack®, Dual Enroll, Zoom and other relevant software)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to school sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, career counseling, student affairs, or a related field
  • Experience in career and college advising, especially with Career and Technical Education (CTE) students
  • Familiarity with Idaho's CTE programs, Perkins V regulations, or advanced opportunities initiatives
  • Experience with credit articulation, dual credit programs, or credit for prior learning processes
  • Grant writing experience

Salary will be between $58,000 - $63,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
