Seeking a Director of Sport   
Sport is an integral part of life at Ivanhoe Grammar School. Our program fosters physical health, teamwork, resilience, and spirit through a broad range of competitive and recreational opportunities. The Director of Sport is a senior leadership position with responsibility for the strategic development, operational management, and enhancement of Ivanhoe Grammar School’s sport programs. The role demands a commitment to excellence in student engagement, wellbeing, coaching development, community involvement, and safe practice. The Director of Sport is responsible for ensuring all sport-related activities reflect Ivanhoe’s culture and values, uphold compliance standards, and contribute positively to the holistic development of every student.

What you will do 
The Director of Sport holds a Position of Leadership. Reporting to the Deputy Principal/Head of Ridgeway Campus, you will be supported by a Deputy Director of Sport and Sport Administrators. You will work in close partnership with senior leaders across the School and oversee a team of coaching staff and Heads of Sport.

In this role you will: 

  • develop a strategic plan for sport, with clear and reportable milestones
  • foster community spirit through positive relationships with students, parents and guardians
  • lead a multidisciplinary team across all four campuses, where high expectations and standards are evident in staff work practices and behaviours
  • cultivate a vibrant sport culture focused on inclusion, leadership, resilience and enjoyment
  • represent Ivanhoe Grammar School in a range of events and settings, and build networks and community relationships
  • oversee all compliance, risk management and budget responsibilities related to sport.

Who you are
You are a visionary leader. You are and engaging, visible and motivating agent for change. You have a demonstrated track record in leading complex sport and co-curricular programs within an educational, elite sport or youth development environment.

You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills:

  • executive-level leadership and people management capability 
  • strategic insight and operational excellence 
  • strong alignment with the values of character, innovation and student-centred learning 
  • deep understanding of contemporary sport practices, adolescent wellbeing, and the evolving role of co-curricular learning 
  • relevant tertiary qualifications in education, sport management or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded) 
  • experience working across multiple campuses or large teams in dynamic environments
  • demonstrated commitment to child safety and inclusive practice, including a valid WWCC or VIT 
  • growth mindset, personal resilience and high emotional intelligence.
