Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.

Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing lessons, instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data to plan instruction, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parent and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives and learning professionally. Start date: August 24, 2026 (Plus New Teacher Orientation the week before, if new to the district)
FTE: 1.0

Contract: 186 days

Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education and required teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. Dual licensure preferred but not required.

Assignments 

Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure. 

Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary and benefits package. For more information, please see the Certified Master Contract 2023-2025.  Salary range listed ($46,417-$94,504) is based on the collective bargaining agreement for 2024-2025 school year and may increase as the 2025-2026 collective bargaining agreement has yet to be negotiated. Full-time (1.0 FTE) certified staff benefits.
