Hourly Wage: $13.80 - 16.24/hr - Depending on previous experience as a para in a school

Job Summary:
Assist the teacher in providing students with the fullest educational opportunity to learn and progress through use of appropriate teaching strategies and materials.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Educational Requirements
- Two years of college or 32 credits or
- Associates degree or
- Meet or exceed cut score on Praxis Exam for the ParaPro Assessment
- Language acquisition experience required. Bilingual preferred.
- Positive public relations skills
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in both instructional and assessment activities, in and out of the classroom.
- Provide instructional reinforcement of lesson plans, under direction of the classroom teacher.
- Lead small group and individual discussions, skills practice and review of classwork.
- Assist the teacher to accommodate implementation of special services (IEP, 504) when applicable.
- Participate in staff meetings, staff projects and professional staff development.
- Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the principal.
- Support the creation of a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students within the limits of resources provided by the district.
- Use instructional materials adopted by the district and employ methods that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Assist the teacher to maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Effectively participate in collaboration with team members.
- Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
- Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
