POSITION: EL Paraprofessional
SCHEDULE: 6.5 hrs/day Monday-Friday during the school year
LOCATION: Kenowa Hills Alpine Elementary
RATE OF PAY: Per KHSSA Contract
Minimum Qualifications, Requirements, & Duties:
Must meet NCLB (No Child Left Behind) qualifications for paraprofessionals. This includes one of the following:
Proof of an Associate’s degree or equivalent college credits, or
A passing score of 460 or higher on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
Fluency in both Spanish and English (speaking and writing) is preferred
Experience working with K–12 students and English Learner (EL) students is preferred.
Ability to use age-appropriate tone and language with students.
Ability to establish and maintain a consistent daily routine tailored to student needs, and adjust as necessary.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively and collaborate regularly as part of an instructional team.
Regular and reliable attendance is essential.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness and ability to support classroom instruction to enhance student learning.
Competence in processing basic paperwork and documentation.
Availability to attend after-school and evening meetings; scheduling may vary throughout the school year.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Though it is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements of an EL Paraprofessional positions, the general content of and requirements for the performance of an EL Paraprofessional are noted below:
Ability to work in an environment where the noise level is generally moderate, but can be high at times and temperatures are varied.
