Paraprofessional - ELD / MLL JOB GOALS: Supports the ELD / MLL Teaching staff in attending to students’ academic and/or social emotional needs. Through collaboration, paraprofessionals assist the ELD teacher in daily instruction, appropriately managing the classroom environment, and are instrumental in supporting students in meeting their academic goals. REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Student Services ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The paraprofessional will work under the direction and guidance of the ELD/general education teacher, administration, and school-based personnel in supporting student’s growth and achievement
  • Assisting students in their learning across content areas in individual, small group, and whole group settings.
  • Assisting and supporting students in their communication between peers, school staff, etc. including the use of assistive technology.
  • Supporting students transitions during arrival and dismissal, between subjects/classes in school, and between activities.
  • Paraprofessionals will provide support in the development of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral skills with individuals or groups of students.
  • Paraprofessional will serve as a substitute for the ELD / MLL teachers when needed
  • Demonstrated ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as approved.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety minded in the performance of all school-related duties.
  • Performs other such duties/assignments as directed by the Principal or Assistant Director of Student Services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 188 Day School Year Contract
  • 60-day probation.
  • Salary per salary schedule and experience.
  • Position constitutes an employee at will of GLCPS, with a contract length and salary to be established annually by the Board.
