Guilmette Elementary School is seeking an elementary Special Education teacher to join our team of skilled and passionate educators. The elementary Special Education teacher will help to close the achievement gap by working with small groups, individuals, and the whole class to ensure that students are receiving standards-based and rigorous instruction, appropriate support, and necessary accommodations. Teachers at the Guilmette School are expected to collaborate with colleagues, build positive relationships with students, and foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment. Special Education teachers at the Guilmette Elementary School frequently have the opportunity to co-teach with general education teachers and other staff.

These individuals will report to the Principal and will work closely with their grade level team, teachers of multi-lingual learners, special educators, and the School Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

• Within classroom or in pullout setting, provide teamed, small group or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' individualized educational plans;
• Modify and adapt the curricula, materials, and physical environment to meet the needs of individual students;
• Completes diagnostic academic testing (formal/informal) as required;
• Participate in IEP Team meetings for students assigned or newly referred;
• Act as Case Manager for designated students, providing close communication with parents and staff and preparing progress reports, annual review narratives and individual education plans;
• Write specific IEP goals & objectives for students assigned or newly referred;
• Design and implement behavior support plans for selected students;
• Provide consultation services to school staff in terms of modifying curriculum, teaching style to meet the needs of special education students;
• Attend special needs staff meetings and designated school staff meetings.
