Position Description:
AXIS is seeking a hard-working, flexible person to support the classroom lead teacher with implementing instruction and reinforcing learning skills in small or large groups, and with daily classroom tasks such as supervision, copies, prepping classroom materials, gathering manipulatives, etc. This position is an assistant teacher in a morning Kindergarten French Immersion classroom and afternoon in an English-speaking classroom. Hours are 7:30-4:00 with 30-minute lunch.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with implementation of instructional plans.
  • Assist the classroom teacher with facilitating small group support; at times. providing individualized support to students with varying learning needs.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in preparing classroom materials, administering tests, grading, taking attendance, completing paperwork, maintaining files, and/or documenting student progress.
  • Provide conditions for a positive and caring learning environment.
  • Follow our behavior protocols and use positive reinforcement.
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.
  • Attend appropriate staff meetings, training, and/or school events.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned, which are consistent with the effective and orderly operation of this position, and the school-wide educational goals.
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates or equivalent; Bachelors preferred
  • English language proficiency
  • French language proficiency (intermediate level or above)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students in a school setting
  • Experience at the elementary school level
Salary Description
$19-22/hour
