Primary Purpose:

Assist in the efficient operation of the special education department.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

48 College hours or TOPS Training through Region 9 ESC

Valid Texas educational aide certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient typing, word processing, and file maintenance skills

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, google forms, pivot tables

Scan and upload records into data save system

Maintain professionalism

Maintain confidentiality

 

Experience:

Two years of clerical experience, preferably in public education environment

Some experience working with children

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Clerical Support

  1. Provide general clerical support to special education department
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all students reports, records, and other documents required
  3. Schedule meeting and appointments and maintain calendar
  4. Data entry for Indicators
  5. Run reports in Esped/Frontline
  6. Prepare student records/ARD to be finalized and uploaded to data system
  7. Prepare staff meetings agendas, handouts and sign-in sheets for PD trainings
  8. Ready materials for therapy/testing as requested by therapists/diagnosticians
  9. Maintain physical and computerized files as requested by therapists/diagnosticians
  10. Assist department in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
  11. Completes and return all forms, reports, referrals and documentation as required IDEA
  12. Contacts parents by phone or mail concerning ARD meetings and files all related correspondence from parents

Instructional Support

  1. Oversee students in a one-on-one or small group setting during tele-therapy sessions.
  2. Assist in behavior management for students receiving tele-therapy services
  3. Assume responsibility for learning each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs and making adaptations to meet those needs.
  4. Work with individual students or small groups of students in skill development as needed during tele-therapy sessions.
  5. Inform general education and/or special educations teachers regarding the progress, performance, and needs of students who are participating in tele-therapy sessions.

Other

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
