The Palisades School District is actively seeking a Special Education Teacher- Autistic Support - to join the district for a contracted position beginning the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Primary responsibilities include working with students in grades K-5, who have autism, communication needs, behavioral needs, needs for self care, and who may require other related services. Prior experience in working with students with autism, supporting communication needs, understanding of applied behavior analysis, and certification in behavior deescalation techniques is preferred.
The successful candidate will serve students with autism in grades K-5 in a, mostly, self-contained special education classroom. Responsibilities include developing Individualized Education Plans and Reevaluation Reports for students, developing and implementing individualized lesson plans for students, leading and coordinating services for a group of paraprofessional and related service providers to facilitate the implementation of IEPs, et. al.
The qualified applicant must have a current Pennsylvania certification as a Special Education Teacher PK-12. As is the expectation for all new professional staff, participation in the three-day Palisades Induction Program is required (August 18 - 20, 2026) and is unpaid. Additionally, the selected candidate will receive 3 days of paid training relative to implementation of the PEAK curriculum, Applied Behavior Analysis and Crisis Prevention Intervention over the summer.
