Future Classified: Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional

Position Summary

The PreK Paraprofessional supports the instructional and developmental needs of preschool-aged children in a classroom setting. This position may include providing personal care assistance, behavioral support, and/or general classroom support to ensure all students can access learning in a safe, nurturing environment. The paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher and other staff to implement individualized strategies and foster student independence, social-emotional growth, and readiness for kindergarten.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or 60+ college credits preferred).

• Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.

• Ability to lift, position, and assist students as needed.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in supporting early childhood development.

• Training or willingness to be trained in de-escalation techniques and personal care support.
