Hours: up to 6 hours daily
Position Summary
The ESY Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities during the Extended School Year to maintain critical skills and prevent regression, as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role emphasizes individualized, data-informed instruction in a structured, supportive environment that promotes access, engagement, and student well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement IEP goals and objectives during the ESY session with fidelity.
Provide direct instruction using evidence-based practices aligned to students’ academic, functional, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
Design and adapt instructional materials, accommodations, and modifications to meet individual student needs.
Establish and maintain a structured, predictable, and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate with ESY paraprofessionals, behavioral interventionists, related service providers, and administrators.
Implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports, when applicable.
Collect, document, and review student data related to ESY goals and progress.
Communicate professionally with families, as appropriate, regarding student participation and general progress during ESY.
Ensure student safety and supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, and community-based instruction.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all special education laws, regulations, and district policies.
Participate in ESY planning, meetings, and required trainings as scheduled.
