Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; and
  2. Completed at least 60 hours of college credit; or
  3. Passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment

Job Description:

 

  • Communicate professionally with all students, parents, school staff, and community members, using effective soft skills with all school community members.
  • Provide interventions as communicated by building leaders and Student Intervention Team
  • Ensure implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention System and Behavior intervention Plans as directed
  • Ensure effective and attentive supervision and support of students
  • Assume responsibility for being prepared to perform clerical duties as prescribed.
  • Assume responsibility for being prepared to supervise students in assigned areas
  • Participate in training, staffing, and meetings as directed by school leaders.
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies and practices for students under federal, state, and local policies.
  • Follow any Greenbrier School Board Policy and/or practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration, building principal, and/or the supervising teacher.
  • Support the work of the administrative assistant and Student Intervention Team as assigned for efficient operations of the school
  • Implement school and district protocols in reporting excessive absences, attendance reports, etc

 

Essential Functions:

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Works as a team member on building level committees.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, bullying, zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Exhibit and use proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office, Google apps
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet special task and project deadlines
