Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- DESE certification in moderate/severe special needs (5-12 or PreK-12), SEI Endorsement Required
- Two (2) years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of Special Education regulations
- Familiarity with diverse disabilities
- Ability and experience in conducting formal evaluations, developing IEPs and transition plans
- Strong data collection skills
- Dedication to inclusive practices and equitable outcomes for students with disabilities
- Ability to provide functional academic instruction, social skills, life skills and vocational training
- Effective communication with students, families and colleagues
- Belief in a structured school environment that promotes a positive school culture
RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not limited to):
- Collaborate with regular education teachers, support staff, administrators, aides and parents in order to monitor student progress and compliance.
- Participate in all IEP team meetings for designated students.
- Ability to chair team meetings
- Make data-driven instructional decisions to improve student outcomes.
- Implement, and monitor Individual Education Programs based on team determinations with measurable goals using progress monitoring.
- Complete all special education paperwork accurately and confidentially according to regulations and on time.
- Collect and report progress monitoring data for all student goals.
- Complete and dispense information regarding student progress at least as often as students in the general education setting.
- Provide individual, small group, co-teaching resource support and specialized instruction based on student's IEP.
- Maintain accurate and compliant special education data (ESY, accommodations, amendments, non-attendance forms, class lists, etc.)
- Other duties as required by the building principal.
Salary in accordance with the Agreement between the Winchendon School Committee and the Winchendon Teachers’ Association.
