Job Description

The HSE Instructor plays a crucial role in educating and preparing students for their High School Equivalency exams. This position demands a high level of dedication, professionalism, and adherence to educational standards.

  • Meticulously prepare and deliver classroom instruction to ensure optimal student learning outcomes.
  • Implement effective strategies to maintain student engagement and motivation throughout the program.
  • Guide students in setting realistic and attainable academic goals, emphasizing the importance of personal growth and achievement.
  • Enforce a strict code of discipline within the classroom to create an environment conducive to learning.
  • Maintain vigilant oversight of students under your responsibility, ensuring their safety and accountability at all times.
  • Diligently maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and files in compliance with institutional standards.
  • Strictly adhere to all guidelines set forth by the Department of Labor, Equus, Center, and departmental policies.
  • Rigorously follow all guidelines established by external agencies to maintain program integrity.
  • Consistently comply with all training guidelines to ensure professional competence.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive corrective action plans for students demonstrating academic deficiencies.
  • Conduct thorough monitoring and analysis of statistical data related to HSE test scores to inform instructional strategies.
  • Utilize TABE diagnostic results to develop targeted instructional plans for students not meeting requirements.
  • Meticulously prepare tasks and classes in accordance with Puerto Rico Department of Education guidelines.
  • Develop and administer rigorous knowledge testing instruments to assess student progress.
  • Strictly adhere to Puerto Rico Department of Education specifications for test administration.
  • Coordinate test dates with the Department of Education, ensuring proper planning and execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Special Education teachers to implement necessary reasonable accommodations for eligible students.
  • Orchestrate efficient transportation arrangements for students to and from test sites.
  • Coordinate provision of meals during test days to maintain student focus and well-being.
  • Conduct comprehensive test reviews with students in the week preceding examinations.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of graduation ceremonies and awards assemblies, maintaining a tone of dignity and achievement.
  • Administer surveys and tests with utmost attention to accuracy and integrity.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to identify youth training needs, assessing both strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in curriculum refinement and development to address identified skill gaps.
  • Design and implement hands-on activities, instructional materials, handouts, and visual aids to facilitate effective learning.
  • Regularly assess training effectiveness to ensure student skill acquisition and overall program efficacy.
  • Provide consistent, individualized coaching to youth participants to optimize their learning outcomes.
  • Develop comprehensive 'train the trainer' modules on curriculum topics to ensure consistent instruction quality.
  • Maintain regular communication with project staff regarding training progress and student development.
  • Model and instruct youth participants in workplace professionalism and effective communication skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management, approaching all tasks with diligence and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education from an accredited four-year university is mandatory, with a strong preference for specialization in Science or Mathematics disciplines.
  • Valid teaching certification for Secondary Level Education in the state where the center is located is required. Specialization in Science or Mathematics is highly preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License Category 4 is essential for this position.
  • Bilingual proficiency is an absolute requirement.
  • Compliance with Law 300 is non-negotiable.
  • Language Proficiency:
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Exceptional skill in composing comprehensive reports, professional business correspondence, and detailed procedural manuals.
  • Proven capacity to articulate information effectively and address inquiries from peers, management groups, students, and the general public with utmost clarity and precision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in presenting intricate information to diverse teams with varying skill sets.
  • Proven ability to lead and cultivate collaborative relationships within diverse groups.
  • Superior writing, speaking, and analytical skills are imperative.
  • Mathematical Aptitude:
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematical concepts, including probability and statistical inference.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply complex mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical scenarios.
  • Analytical Capabilities:
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, including the ability to define complex issues, gather relevant data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic forms, and effectively manage multiple abstract and concrete variables.
  • Professional Attributes:
  • Strong self-motivation and proven ability to meet stringent deadlines while balancing multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Extensive experience in curriculum development, implementation, and instruction is crucial.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Business applications is required.
