    Position Summary

     

    The ELL (English Language Learner) Paraeducator supports multilingual students in developing English language proficiency and accessing grade-level curriculum. This role works closely with the classroom teacher, District ELL Director, and other support staff to provide targeted assistance in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, while fostering student confidence and success in the classroom.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     
    • Provide small-group or one-on-one academic support to English Learners under the direction of certified staff.

    • Reinforce classroom instruction and language objectives by using strategies that promote language development.

    • Assist students with vocabulary, comprehension, and communication in both academic and social settings.

    • Support the use of visuals, manipulatives, and technology to enhance learning for ELL students.

    • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the classroom teacher and/or ELL teacher.

    • Encourage and model correct use of English language while honoring and valuing students’ home languages and cultures.

    • Assist in preparing instructional materials and resources for ELL students.

    • Supervise and support students in classrooms, small groups, and other learning environments.

    • Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

    • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.

     

    Qualifications

     
    • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

    • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Patience, flexibility, and ability to support diverse learners.

    • Bilingual or multilingual skills (preferred, but not required).
    • ?At least 18 years of age.
    • Ability to pass a criminal history background check,
    • Ability to pass the paraprofessional praxis or present the equivalent in college credits.
     

    Work Environment & Schedule

     
    • School-based setting, working with students in classrooms, small groups, and occasionally during transitions or non-classroom times.

    • Follows the school calendar and daily schedule as determined by building needs.
