POSITION: Integrated Preschool Special Education Teacher
Putnam Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Integrated Preschool Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and possess a deep understanding of child development. They will create engaging, play-based learning experiences that foster social-emotional growth, cognitive skills, language development, and physical coordination in a diverse classroom setting.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and implement age-appropriate, hands-on, play-based lessons aligned with CT Early Learning Standards and district curriculum.
Classroom Environment: Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom that promotes positive behavior and a love for learning.
Student Progress: Observe and assess student development, using data to inform instruction and meet individual needs.
Collaboration & Communication: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians and collaborate effectively with staff and support personnel.
IEP/504 Implementation: Implement and monitor IEPs/504 plans for students with special needs, ensuring tailored support and compliance.
Assessment: Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student learning and development.
Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with early childhood best practices.
Student Safety & Wellness: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students by adhering to school and district policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification: Valid CT Teaching License/Certificate with endorsement 113 (Early Childhood/Elementary Ed. N-3 and Special Ed. N-K) or 065 (Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K through Grade 12), or eligibility for certification.
Experience: Previous experience teaching in a Pre-Kindergarten or early childhood classroom preferred.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of early childhood development theories, developmentally appropriate practices, and play-based learning.
Skills: Excellent classroom management, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and meet all district employment requirements
RATE OF PAY: $53,408 - $98,785 per year (determined by contractual agreement)
