Primary Purpose:

Support the needs of At Risk students within the classroom through inspiring and coaching teachers to assist students in Tier II and Tier III instruction as well as provide assistance with behavioral interventions.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Master’s Degree preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction across all assigned grade levels

Knowledge of current research and trends in assigned area

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to interact positively with students, parents, and educators

Ability to use technology in the At Risk instructional program

Knowledge of the Response to Intervention (RTI) process

Possess patience and desire to work with At Risk students

 

Experience:

Student teaching or approved internship

Successful experience working with at-risk students, English Language Learners, or students from poverty preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Provide professional development to teachers who work with At Risk students.
  2. Inspire and coach teachers to assist students in Tier II and III instruction.
  3. Provide behavioral interventions for At Risk students. Track and monitor progress of students.
  4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Differentiate instruction within a small group.
  5. Work as part of campus RTI team using data to deliver targeted interventions to Tier II/III students and document progress using designated district computer programs.
  6. Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Document data used during intervention.
  7. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Help students analyze and improve attitudes, behaviors, and habits.
  2. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  3. Be a positive role model for students. Support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Support a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and is appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.

  1. Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in and provide staff development activities to improve job-related skills and curriculum.
  2. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  4. Participate in staff development to maintain professional competence and to ensure compliance with Federal and State guidelines. Share such information with staff as appropriate.
  5. Attend district meetings as determined by the Principal.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
