Candidate must have valid Elementary Special Education Teacher (Grades K-5) Certificate
Salary based on Step Scale and experience range.
Responsibilities:
- Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP
-Analyze student data and progress with a balanced assessment system to provide effective and targeted instruction and interventions to maximize student learning
-Employ various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
-Schedule team meetings and work cooperatively with special education team members
-Serve as primary contact for the parent
-Conduct special education evaluations, reevaluations and be able to write an IEP
-Provide a classroom management plan ensuring student safety at all times and must be able to modify, follow through with and create Behavior Plans.
-Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptions, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
-Implement and act as the case manager for IEP students
-Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and District policy
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues
- Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Patience, empathy, and understanding when working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities
