SUMMARY:
To provide direct support to instructional programs and processes related to Special Education services at the elementary level to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and governing regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid certification to meet State requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned. Applicant who has had teaching experience must have an acceptable rating for such teaching.

Lifting or moving children to a wheelchair, table, and desk, or assisting with bathroom/hygiene. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds such as pushing a child on a bike or swing, or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work both inside and outside and within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions are routine and flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments under stressful conditions. After-hour work may be required. May be exposed to physical outburst by students, including but not limited to, hitting, kicking, spitting, scratching, and biting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
10-month or 11-month contract, depending on the building
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of personnel.
