LEARNING LIGHTHOUSE SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER- FOR SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION/INCLUSION PROGRAMMING FOR K-2- SWAMPSCOTT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

Summary: 

Responsible for planning and implementing effective individualized instruction for students with significant needs for academic and therapeutic support for self-regulation and with an overall goal of academic integration in the least restrictive environment through the integration of behavioral, emotional, and instructional interventions.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Positive energy, clear and consistent boundaries with students, sense of humor are necessary
  • Complete evaluations, write IEPs, and progress reports
  • Provide specialized instruction, including curriculum development and accommodations to students with disabilities for students with developmental delays in social behavior, autism, ADHD, and/or emotional issues, utilizing student interests to be woven into curriculum topics
  • Modify curriculum and provide accommodations in the inclusion setting
  • Implement behavior support plans and collect data to inform progress and interventions
  • Skilled in de-escalation techniques
  • Model and coach support staff for the implementation of behavioral supports and accommodations
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis, Social Thinking Curricula, and Zones of Regulation required
  • Facilitate social skills groups and incidental teaching techniques for social skills
  • Communication with parents

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s level required,
  • 3 years of experience preferred,
  • Severe Disabilities DESE certification in the required grade level
  • BCBA certification is a plus
