Long -Term Permanent Substitute Preschool Special Education Teacher - (to cover a leave of absence) - 2025/2026

Long-Term Permanent Substitute Preschool Special Education Teacher

 

School:

Burlington Early Childhood Center

 

Job Goal:

The preschool classroom teacher coordinates and provides programming for children with and without disabilities for instruction in academic, communication, social language, motor, self-regulation, and life skills. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1) Implement the general education curriculum and specific IEP goals and objectives as well as accommodations and modifications as necessary.

 

2) Complete the paperwork process associated with special education including, but not limited to, the development of IEPs, timelines, and progress reports.

 

3) Monitor and track progress for the general education curriculum and complete report cards.

 

4) Oversee instructional assistants assigned to your classroom.

5) Collaborate with Team Chairperson, School Psychologists, specialists, other related service providers, and outside agencies consulting with your program to support your students' overall developmental areas

6) Attend all professional meetings that are scheduled by the Superintendent of Schools, Director of Special Education, or building Director.

 

7) Ensure that all Massachusetts Special Education Regulations are followed and implemented.

 

8) Perform any other duties as requested by the Director of the BECC and/or building team chair.

 

Requirements:

 

Dual certification

  • Early Childhood Prek-2
  • Teacher of Students with Moderate or Severe Disabilities Prek-2 or Prek-8

Compensation:

$125 per day until the teacher comes off the salary schedule and then in accordance with the Burlington Educators' Association Unit A contract

 

Start Date:

Approximately February 3 through May 8, 2026
