QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Current MA DESE Special Education license 
  • Master’s degree in Special Education preferred

 

OVERVIEW: 

Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our STRIVE Program at Dolbeare Elementary School. STRIVE is our districtwide substantially separate program designed to meet the needs of students with Autism through highly individualized, evidence-based instruction. This position is for a Grades 1-4 classroom serving a small group of students, each with unique strengths and varying inclusion opportunities as outlined in their IEPs.

 

The program is supported by a BCBA who collaborates closely with classroom staff to develop, implement, and refine Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. Our STRIVE classrooms also benefit from robust paraprofessional support, ensuring a high staff-to-student ratio and allowing for meaningful small-group and one-on-one instruction.

 

STRIVE uses the ACE ABA Software System developed by the New England Center for Children (NECC), providing educators with a comprehensive and research-based framework for data collection, instructional planning, and skill development. The ideal candidate will be part of a collaborative, supportive team and committed to promoting student growth, independence, and inclusion in the school community.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement instruction using the ACE ABA Software System (NECC) to support individualized, ABA-based programming
  • Collect and analyze student data to inform instruction and track progress
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Lead IEP team meetings and collaborate with families, service providers, and administrators
  • Write quarterly progress reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Design and adapt classroom instruction and materials to meet diverse learning needs
  • Provide a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Supervise and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and other support staff
  • Promote student participation in general education settings, aligned with IEP goals

SALARY: $61,161
