About STMA Schools
We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.
Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and providing specialized, research-based instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Also responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives and following state mandated due process procedures and functions. Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education and required teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. Dual licensure preferred but not required.
Assignments
Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure.
Salary & Benefits
Wages: Long-Term Substiute Certified Staff Rate with appropriate Certification from PELSB: $249.55/day. $175/day with short-call substitute license only.
Benefits: Available but without district contribution for fully certified teacher if contract days are less than 30; fully certified teachers with assignments longer than 30 days are entitled to District Contribution at the Full-time (1.0 FTE) benefit level. No benefits available with short-call substitute license. Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST) will be provided as required by law for either license type.
