    Position Summary: 
    Westmont Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support our 6th-8th grade students. This position requires a collaborative educator who will co-teach Reading and Math, provide targeted support in a resource classroom, and manage a caseload of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The ideal candidate will be committed to data-driven instruction, individualized student growth, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

     
    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Co-teach Reading and Math classes, collaborating with general education teachers to deliver differentiated instruction and provide accommodations, plan lessons, deliver lessons, and grade classwork.
    • Teach a resource class to provide targeted interventions and support students in achieving IEP goals.
    • Use data-driven decision-making to modify instruction and support student progress.
    • Implement best practices for special education instruction, including a multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
    • Serve as case manager for a designated group of students, ensuring all IEPs are implemented effectively.
    • Develop, write, and update IEPs, including measurable annual goals and appropriate accommodations/modifications.
    • Facilitate and lead IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while fostering collaboration among parents, general education teachers, and related service providers.
    • Monitor student progress and complete progress reports in alignment with IEP timelines.
    • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in collaboration with support staff when needed.
    • Work as an active member of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) to analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
    • Communicate regularly with families, support staff, and administration regarding student progress and needs.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development related to special education best practices, instructional strategies, and data analysis.
