Danvers Public Schools seeks a Long-term Substitute Special Education TeacherPosition Overview
Danvers Public Schools is seeking a skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in grades K–5. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality, individualized instruction to students with a range of learning profiles and disabilities. This educator will work closely with general education staff, specialists, and families to ensure each student receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional need
Deliver specially designed instruction in both inclusive and pull-out settings, tailored to student goals and learning styles
Collaborate with general education teachers to support differentiated instruction and classroom accommodations
Implement and monitor behavior support plans, as appropriate
Conduct progress monitoring and utilize data to inform instructional decisions and update IEP goals
Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal special education regulations
Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and foster strong school-home partnerships
Support students' development of executive functioning, self-advocacy, and social skills
Utilize assistive technology and other tools to enhance access to curriculum and learning opportunities
Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs
Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to inclusive practices and culturally responsive teaching
