Reports to: Director of Special Education


Major Responsibilities
•Coordinate, implement, and consult with stakeholders regarding accommodations and modifications per the student’s individualized education plan (IEP).
•Provide modifications for department assessments, projects, and papers per the student’s IEP.
•Participate in the design and evaluation of curriculum and instruction.
•Communicate with parents regarding students’ academic and classroom performance.
•Consistently prepare for class and demonstrate written evidence of preparation including lesson plans in collaboration with the regular education teacher.
•Design and implement educational lessons in accordance with student’s IEP objectives and use data based progress monitoring to inform instruction.
•Instruct assigned class in the location and at the times designated.
•In collaboration with regular education teacher, select appropriate instructional materials and employ materials and techniques consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual students.
•Attend, participate and assist in all special education meetings as required for assigned liaison students.
•Responsible for writing the Individual Education Plans which include educational goals and objectives, monitoring and initiating revisions of IEP’s to ensure the relevance of activities to each child’s needs.
•Monitor student progress towards IEP goals, write and send data based progress reports.
•Assist in and administer appropriate educational diagnostic testing as needed.
•Collaborate with the school staff in planning appropriate modifications for special education student success for all of their educational needs.
•Develop strategies to help remediate particular disabilities of children within the regular education classroom.
•Attend parent conferences that may be called by administration, guidance counselor, or the Director of Special Education.
•Complete appropriate state and federal forms as they may pertain to special education students and Individual Education Plans.
•Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
•Current and valid MA DESE Licensure for Moderate Disabilities (5-12 grade level)
•Experience facilitating IEP team meetings and writing IEPs, knowledge of co-teaching strategies
•Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement instruction
•Use assessment data to drive instruction
•Master’s Degree Preferred
•SEI Endorsement Preferred
