DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT

        OF POSITION:

A Special Education Teacher with Massachusetts Certification in Moderate/Severe Special Needs with specific experience in the areas of working with elementary age students who present with an intellectual/cognitive impairment, language impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and/or neurological impairments. The teacher must have the experience and ability to collect and analyze assessment data, write and implement Individualized Education Plans and Student Support or Behavior Plans, and work collaboratively and cohesively with general education, special education colleagues, administration, and families. The teacher should have experience in the MCAS – Alternative Assessment. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of professionalism, passion for teaching and learning, highly effective communication skills, and demonstrate cultural proficiency.

   

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts Certification in Elementary Education in Moderate/Severe Special Needs
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with students with moderate/severe special needs and behavioral needs.
  • Ability to provide evidence of impact on student improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with administrators, colleagues, school based staff, students, parents/guardians, and community members.
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior, and possess the skills, knowledge and expertise to teach and promote positive behavior.
  • Demonstrate patience, understanding and empathy with students and parents/guardians.
   

SALARY:

$58,420.00 - $120,304.00
