1.0 FTE Jr./Sr. High (Grades 7 - 12) School Moderate Special Needs Teacher

DESCRIPTION:
We believe that special education teachers play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment by providing individualized instruction and advocacy for students with diverse learning needs. Responsibilities include co-teaching in general education classrooms, delivering targeted small-group instruction, and designing curriculum with appropriate modifications and scaffolds to ensure accessibility for all learners. The teacher will serve as a liaison between students, staff, and families, maintaining clear communication and collaboration to support students on their individual caseloads. Additionally, the teacher will empower students to develop self-advocacy skills, set meaningful academic and personal goals, and take an active role in their success plan throughout their secondary schooling career.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of an MA DESE license in the areas of Teacher of Moderate Special Needs (5-12)
SEI Endorsement
A strong background in secondary-level Math and Science Content Areas
A strong background in curriculum development, modification, and scaffold development
Experience in planning, directing, and assisting group and individual instructional activities that are engaging and multi-sensory
Experience in a co-taught classroom setting is preferred
Strong Core Content skills with the ability to accommodate diverse learning styles
Strong communication skills and a background in working with parents/guardians as partners in the educational process
GENERAL DUTIES:
Co-Teaching & Collaboration: Partner with general education teachers to provide differentiated instruction and accommodations within inclusive classrooms.
Targeted Instruction: Deliver specialized small-group instruction tailored to students' individual learning needs.
Curriculum Design: Modify and scaffold curriculum materials to ensure all students can access rigorous academic content.
Case Management & Communication: Serve as a liaison between students, staff, and families, maintaining clear and consistent communication to support student success.
Student Empowerment: Guide students in developing self-advocacy skills, setting academic and personal goals, and taking an active role in their educational journey.
