Position Summary:   

The Multilingual (ML) Paraprofessional Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program is a free workforce training initiative designed to prepare individuals, especially multilingual (ML) adult learners—for success as paraprofessionals in K–12 school settings. This program blends academic instruction, career readiness, and real-world experience to equip participants with the tools needed to support teachers and effectively engage students in the classroom.

 

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic IET Instructor to lead instruction for the Paraprofessional IET Program. The instructor will provide contextualized academic support, soft skills training, and foundational knowledge in instructional assistance. This role is ideal for an educator with experience in adult education, paraprofessional work, or workforce development.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide engaging, contextualized instruction focused on literacy, communication, classroom strategies, and student support techniques.
  • Teach workplace readiness skills relevant to paraprofessional roles in K–12 education.
  • Guide participants through career exploration, job application processes, and interview preparation.
  • Coordinate with local school districts to support classroom observation hours or job
  • shadowing opportunities.
  • Support participants in building confidence, professionalism, and cultural competency for diverse educational environments.
  • Track student progress and attendance; provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Collaborate with program staff and workforce partners to ensure participant success.

  • Certification Training: To provide instructional assistance to candidates to meet one of the following qualifications: Passed the ParaPro Assessment through ETS (effective July 1, 2024), or Passed the Paraprofessional Assessment through Pearson (from September 23, 2013 to June 20, 2024), or Passed the ParaPro Assessment prior to September 23, 2013, or Completed the 20-Hour Substitute Certificate Course

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.

 

Required:

  • Experience in K–12 education or adult education
  • Strong instructional and communication skills
  • Cultural competence and experience working with multilingual or diverse adult learners
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, or related field (not required)
  • Missouri Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) certification or willingness to obtain
  • Prior experience as a paraprofessional or in workforce development programs
  • Bilingual (English and another language) is a plus

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and credentials

Employment Type:

  • Temporary/Contract (4 to 6 weeks, with potential for extension)
  • Part-time or full-time schedule negotiable based on program needs
