Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional. In this role, you will support teachers and students in a dynamic educational environment. Your primary focus will be to assist in the implementation of instructional programs, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support to succeed academically and socially. Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in preparing instructional materials and maintaining an organized classroom environment.
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities, by providing individualized attention and encouragement.
- Monitor student progress during activities and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance and behavior.
- Facilitate small group or one-on-one instruction to reinforce learning concepts and skills taught in the classroom.
- Help manage classroom behavior and promote a positive learning environment.
- Assist with the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior as directed by the teacher.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement effective strategies for student support.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the educational and emotional needs of students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and school staff.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational technology tools.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check and comply with all school district policies and procedures.
