Responsibilities

Values, Expectations, and Commitment: Our staff commit themselves to the school’s values and mission. Moreover, appreciating the example of excellent schools which succeed at helping all students achieve at a high level, our staff hold high expectations for each student and commit themselves to helping every student achieve their full potential.

Student Learning: Our staff takes ownership for their students achievements and learning progress that meets or exceeds the school's high standards. They actively develop solutions to problems, reaching out for peer and leader support, and are able to take advantage of all school provided resources. Paraprofessionals are expected to collaborate with our special education coordinator and with a student's teachers by implementing interventions they have designed to support the student and to improve student focus and behavior.

Paraprofessionals are expected to assist a student's teacher in providing classroom accommodations, while still pushing the students to do the work themselves. When working with a student on an academic exercise, paraprofessionals are expected to not short-circuit student thinking by providing the answer, such as through spelling out a word. Instead the student grow by challenging the student to use skills that have been learned, such as phonetically sounding out the letters in a word.
