To assist the classroom teachers in providing instructional support to meet the educational needs of students. The paraprofessional will work with individual students and small groups to reinforce learning objectives and ensure a positive, supportive classroom environment.
High school diploma or GED (required)
Associate’s degree or completion of 48 college credit hours, or successful completion of a TEA-approved paraprofessional assessment (preferred)
Experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred)
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with staff
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives
Help monitor and track student progress and behavior
Assist with implementing accommodations/modifications for students with diverse learning needs
Supervise students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, or specials as assigned
Help maintain a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment
Assist in managing student behavior using district-approved strategies
Provide support for students in self-regulation, social skills, and conflict resolution
Alert teacher to any issues requiring attention or follow-up
Assist in maintaining student records and documentation
Operate educational equipment and technology as needed
Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and resources
Support with clerical tasks such as copying, filing, and data entry
Maintain confidentiality of student and school information
Follow district policies, procedures, and guidelines
Attend required staff development and training
Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support multiple classrooms or assignments as needed
