    This is a posting for a full-time, Paraprofessional- Academic Intervention Support serving grades 6-8 for Postlethwait Middle School. This grant-funded position is temporary for the 2025-2026 school year. 

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Academic Intervention Paraprofessional will support the improvement of student achievement in Literacy, English Language Arts (ELA), and Mathematics for students in grades 6-8. The paraprofessional will work directly with classroom teachers to provide flexible support through push-in assistance during instruction and pull-out targeted small-group intervention sessions. Intervention plans and materials will be designed by teachers, and the paraprofessional will be responsible for implementing them with fidelity.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
    Instructional Support

     
    • Provide push-in support within general education and/or inclusion classrooms to reinforce instruction and promote student engagement in learning tasks.
    • Lead small-group pull-out intervention sessions in ELA, Literacy, and Mathematics using teacher-designed lessons and resources.
    • Monitor student progress during intervention sessions and provide feedback to classroom teachers on student performance and areas of need.
    • Support students with independent practice and skill reinforcement activities aligned to grade-level standards.
    Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with classroom teachers, interventionists, and special education staff to coordinate student support.
    • Participate in scheduled team meetings, data discussions, and professional development as required.
    • Maintain clear, confidential, and timely communication with teachers and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
    Classroom & Student Support
    • Assist in creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that supports academic success for all students.
    • Reinforce school-wide expectations for behavior, effort, and engagement.
    • Provide one-on-one support as needed to promote student understanding and task completion.
    • Implement accommodations and support strategies as directed by teachers or student learning plans.
    Data & Documentation
    • Track student attendance in small-group sessions and support progress-monitoring efforts.
    • Assist teachers in collecting student work samples or data needed to inform instruction and intervention next steps.
     

    QUALIFICATIONSIndividuals who currently hold or are eligible for an Instructional Paraeducator Permit are encouraged to apply.

    REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the permit, you must meet one of the following criteria:

     
    • Possess a high school diploma or recognized equivalent and achieve a passing score of 459 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (ETS ParaPro)
     

    OR

     
    • Hold an associate degree or have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited institution, with a grade of “C” or better in each course (final approval of accepted credits is determined by the Delaware Department of Education).

    Note: Passing ParaPro scores must be on file with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) prior to applying, unless you meet the alternative degree/credit requirement. Please use Reporting Code R7065 when requesting to have test scores sent to DDOE.


    SALARY:  In accordance with the State of Delaware and local salary schedules, based on experience and degree. Benefits package included.

    • All persons employed by the Caesar Rodney School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.
    • Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following:  proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver’s License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form, and completion of paperwork for the Delaware Child Protection Registry.
