TITLE: Paraprofessional

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Ten (10) months Classified Non-Exempt

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Salary Schedule

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: To provide  instructional  support  to  certified teacher to enhance the learning environment of at-risk, physically/mentally challenged or other special needs students through individualized focus on learning skills.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANCE

  1. Assists in preparation of instructional materials and physical environment
  2. Assists in planning and preparation for group and individual activities
  3. Assists with student records/attendance requirements
  4. Assists substitute teacher to ensure continuity of learning process
  5. Assists with parent activities 6.Performs other related tasks as assigned

 

STUDENT INTERACTION

  1. Supervises students as assigned, during non-instructional activities
  2. Provides individual and group instructional support to reinforce skills
  3. Provides enrichment and remedial assistance as required
  4. Assists with testing to determine student placement as required
  5. Participates in activities that will develop positive interaction in the instructional process
  6. Performs other related tasks as assigned

 

CERTIFICATION: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR, First Aide with in 6 months

 

SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to communicate and work well with all children, oral and written communication skills, office equipment usage, and computer applications such as spreadsheet applications.

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:  Ability to communicate  and work well with all children, latest practices of instructional delivery, and knowledge of the Navajo Language is preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: High School Diploma with Para Educator's Assessment, minimum 60 hours of college credits or AA degree preferred.

 

Experience: Preferred.

 

Supervision: Must use own initiative and judgment.

 

 

Responsibility: Responsible for some confidential records.

 

 

License: Drivers License

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical movement of some equipment, possible handling of handicapped children, ability to bend, stands and walks extensively.

SUPERVISOR: Classroom teacher and principal
