POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional, 10-month
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.
Bilingual perfered not required
Primary Purpose
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities.
Qualifications
Education/Certification(s)License(s):
High school diploma or equivalent
*Review if there are additional requirements by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for paraprofessionals/aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Experience:
Some experience working with children
Essential Job Functions
- Duties/Responsibilities: Provide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Requires the ability to maintain emotional control while under stress and in stressful situations.
- Requires the ability to frequently sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires the ability to walk frequently.
- Requires the ability to use standard office equipment including computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires the ability to occasionally bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, or reach.
- Requires the ability to regularly lift and carry items ____ lbs. or less.
- Requires the ability to work and concentrate in noisy and crowded environments.
- Requires the ability to work with frequent interruptions.
- Requires the ability to occasionally work outside with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
