Special Education Teacher (Part-Time, 5 Days/Week)

 

Johnson Elementary School is excited to announce the addition of a new part time Special Education Teacher position to meet the growing needs of our students. We are seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator who is passionate about providing high-quality instruction and believes that all students, including those on IEPs, can achieve at high levels.

 

Position: Special Education Teacher

Schedule: Part-Time, 5 days per week (hours determined from student plans and schedules)

Start Date: immediately

 

Qualifications (Required):

  • Massachusetts educator license in Moderate Disabilities (PreK–8)
  • Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive practices and supporting diverse learners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Wilson/Orton-Gillingham training or certification

  • Experience implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and CASEL Competencies

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with families, colleagues, and support staff

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction in alignment with IEP goals and district curriculum goals
  • Write and implement IEP goals that reflect grade-level standards with appropriate modifications and supports
  • Deliver evidence-based reading instruction and interventions for struggling readers
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student growth
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and needs of students and families, fostering a supportive and inclusive school community
  • Contribute to a positive school culture that emphasizes high expectations and student success
