Maintain continuous, direct visual supervision of the student throughout the school day, including during classroom activities, transitions, recess/outdoor play, and trips to the restroom or other areas.
Assist the student with safe mobility and navigation around the classroom and school, providing physical support as needed to prevent falls or injuries.
Monitor the student for signs of discomfort, pain, or fatigue, and immediately report any concerns or suspected injuries to the classroom teacher, school nurse, or administration
Facilitate the student's participation in all learning activities and social interactions, adapting materials or presenting instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher.
Reinforce academic and developmental goals, including pre-reading, math, and motor skills.
Collect and record data on the student's progress.
Help the student transition smoothly between activities and environments.
Maintain confidentiality regarding the students' personal information.
Communicate regularly and effectively with the classroom teacher regarding the student’s well-being and needs.
Participate in required professional development and training specific to working with students with orthopedic challenges.
High school diploma or equivalent (Required) AND
Paraprofessional License (Required, but will assist candidate in obtaining licensure if needed)
Prior experience working with preschool-age children (3-5 years old) in an educational or child care setting (Preferred).
Experience or training in supporting students with special needs, particularly those with physical or orthopedic conditions (Preferred).
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, which may include kneeling, bending, lifting (following safe lift guidelines), and standing for extended periods.
Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and demonstrate patience, empathy, and consistency.
