    Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Building Administrator
    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
    Position Type: Full-Time 7.0 Hours Per Day

     

    Position Summary:

     

    The Pre-K Paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role assists in implementing lesson plans, supervising students, managing classroom routines, and supporting children’s individual needs to promote school readiness.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     
    • Assist the teacher in planning and implementing daily instructional activities and classroom routines.

    • Provide individualized and small group instruction under teacher guidance.

    • Support students in developing age-appropriate social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.

    • Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.

    • Monitor students to ensure safety in the classroom, playground, cafeteria, and on field trips.

    • Assist with toileting, diapering, dressing, and other personal hygiene needs, as required.

    • Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.

    • Provide support to children with special needs in coordination with the teacher and support staff.

    • Model positive behavior and guide students in practicing appropriate classroom behavior.

    • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families at all times.

    • Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.

    • Collaborate effectively with the teacher, staff, and families.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • High school diploma or GED required.

    • Associate’s degree (60 Credit Hours), or completion of approved paraprofessional assessment required.

    • Prior experience working with young children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.

    • Ability to work effectively with preschool-aged children and support their developmental needs.

    • Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills.

    • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with others.

     

    Physical Requirements:

     
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.

    • Stamina to actively engage with children throughout the school day.
