Job Title: Pre-K Paraprofessional

Reports To: Classroom Teacher and Building Administrator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Type: Full-Time 7.0 Hours Per Day
The Pre-K Paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role assists in implementing lesson plans, supervising students, managing classroom routines, and supporting children’s individual needs to promote school readiness.
Assist the teacher in planning and implementing daily instructional activities and classroom routines.
Provide individualized and small group instruction under teacher guidance.
Support students in developing age-appropriate social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
Monitor students to ensure safety in the classroom, playground, cafeteria, and on field trips.
Assist with toileting, diapering, dressing, and other personal hygiene needs, as required.
Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
Provide support to children with special needs in coordination with the teacher and support staff.
Model positive behavior and guide students in practicing appropriate classroom behavior.
Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families at all times.
Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
Collaborate effectively with the teacher, staff, and families.
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree (60 Credit Hours), or completion of approved paraprofessional assessment required.
Prior experience working with young children, preferably in an educational or childcare setting.
Ability to work effectively with preschool-aged children and support their developmental needs.
Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with others.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
Stamina to actively engage with children throughout the school day.
