    POSITION SUMMARY:
    This position supports teachers with supervision, learning facilitation and redirection to ensure successful inclusion of all children, including those with identified special needs. Additionally, the employee may provide data collection information and feedback to teachers regarding individual student performance. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, serving meals, clerical support, following of individual student plans, support of student hygiene and wellness activities, and material preparation. All ECE staff members are responsible for the development and promotion of positive community relations among stakeholders. The position may involve riding the bus and providing student supervision on the bus to and from the work site during morning and afternoon bus runs.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Maintain confidentiality in every interaction with students, families, staff and community.
    Work collaboratively with classroom team to meet the needs of all students.
    Follow the lead of and support ECE Specialist in running the classroom, student instruction and assessment.
    Interact with children in a manner that promotes positive relationships and learning.
    Communicate on a daily basis with ECE Specialist to determine daily priorities, upcoming activities, and student needs
    Support students with a variety of needs throughout the school day, during large group, small group, transitions etc. Prepare for, support, and run small groups for students, under guidance of ECE Specialist
    Follow guidance of Special Services staff to implement programing and strategies for student learning 
    Promote a learning environment that respects the diversity of every child.
    Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement.
    Maintain a safe, clean learning environment that meets Colorado childcare licensing requirements.
    Assist young children with self-care routines including diapering, toilet training, and handwashing.
    Provide student supervision throughout the day in the classroom, outside, at lunch, and on field trips. No child should ever be unsupervised.
    Report any communication or concern from a parent or student immediately to the ECE specialist, to determine next steps. Refer families to the ECE specialist for information regarding student academic and social-emotional status.
    Follow email communications daily
    Maintain work schedule and hours, and obtain prior permission for any additional time needed
    Actively participate in PLCs, Team Meetings, Collaborative Planning and other required training.
    Apply and implement knowledge, skills, and new understanding to support instructional programming.
    Responsible for full implementation of Classroom Handbook and Adult Actions Document.
     Provide student support on transportation to/from ECE during morning and afternoon bus runs. 
    Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High School Graduate or equivalent.
    Bachelor of Arts (preferred).
    Bilingual (preferred).
    CDHS Early Childhood Teacher qualification preferred (BA in Education, CDA, or completion of ECE 101;102; 103; 238 and ECE elective)
    OR
    Complete CDA or required ECE classes within 2 years of hire (ECE 101;102; 103; 238 and approved elective course).
    Head Start teaching assistants nationwide in center-based programs have:
    - at least a child development associate credential or equivalent
    - enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE; or
    - enrolled in a child development associate credential program to be completed within 2 years.
    English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred or obtained within 6 months of employment).

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequent lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
    Frequent sitting, bending, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.
    Following employment offer/acceptance: Ongoing employment is conditional upon successful clearance of employer paid, job related, pre-employment physical.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    The work environment may be noisy.
    Frequent encounter with odors and bodily fluids.

    ECE Specialist and Director of ECE or designee.

    RATE OF COMPENSATION:
    Starting hourly rate is $19.79 - $22.39 based upon education and related experience.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
