Preschool Special Education Teacher  

East Falmouth School

The Falmouth Public Schools is seeking a skilled and experienced special education teacher to join the preschool team at East Falmouth Elementary who has experience working with children with high needs (i.e., Autism, behavioral, emotional, cognitive). The teacher will work in an integrated model of service delivery, offering academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical support to children with and without disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts licensure in Special Education.
  • Massachusetts licensure in Early Childhood preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement preferred.
  • Special interests or talents in cultural or recreational areas.
  • Experience teaching at the early childhood level preferred.
  • Safety Care trained or willing to be trained to support school based team.
  • Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.

 

 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish inviting and engaging preschool classroom that addresses preschool learning standards and individual student needs
  • Provide positive behavior supports and interventions for children with and without disabilities
  • Actively engage as a partner in the Instructional Support Team process to support our multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) 
  • Provide academic, physical, social, and emotional support and services
  • Willingness to be trained for crisis response
  • Work collaboratively with early childhood team of teachers and therapists
  • Collect data to measure progress against IEP goals and objectives
  • Participate fully in the special education process including initial evaluation, IEP development, and progress reporting
  • Exercise appropriate classroom management that supports children growing in their ability to become self-disciplined.
  • Manage effectively the routines of classroom operations and maintain, with student help, an attractive and healthful classroom
  • Foster warm, close, yet productive relationships with students and pleasant, cooperative relationships with staff members
  • Develop and implement curriculum objectives based on the learning standards of the curriculum frameworks
  • Assume necessary supervisory responsibilities when required
  • Collaborate and work with the Preschool Special Education Building Administrator and with the building Principal
  • Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal

 

SALARY:  In accordance with FEA Unit A Contract
